    Dr. Jaimie Davis, Ph.D.

Dr. Jaimie Davis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine, USC Keck School of Medicine.

Dr. Davis has her PhD in Nutritional Sciences and is a Registered Dietitian. Dr. Davis’s research focuses on designing and disseminating nutrition, physical activity, and behavioral interventions to reduce obesity and related metabolic disorders in overweight adolescents. She has a strong background in nutrition, physical activity, and body composition assessment in pediatric populations.

Dr. Davis has written numerous papers examining the role that dietary intake, specifically added sugar and dietary fiber, plays on adiposity and insulin indices in overweight Latino children. Dr. Davis was recently funded by NIH NIDDK and the California Breast Cancer Research Program to assess whether a 16-week combined aerobic and strength training intervention can reduce adiposity, type 2 diabetes and breast cancer risk factors in overweight Latino female adolescents.

Dr. Davis is also conducting a randomized control maintenance trial to examine the long-term effects of nutrition and exercise interventions on adiposity and type 2 diabetes risk factors in African American and Latino adolescents.
